CCQ Quick Start Guide - PDA Features

Synchronize Mode Option

ü Teacher Console synchronize with PDA

ü Access content and download to PDA

ü Upload student data from PDA

Step 1. Click “ START” menu on PDA (if you do not see CCQ Traveling Tutor listed, go to Program Files)

Step 2. Click “CCQ Traveling Tutor”

“Welcome To the CCQ Traveling-Tutor” screen will appear

Step 3. Please select one of the follow options:

• Synchronize

• Take Test

• Study

To start, click “Synchronize” and then click “Continue” (to synchronize, you must have a Wi-Fi connection)

Step 4. “Please enter your user name and password below

and Click Synchronize to continue…” screen will appear.

Username: (Case sensitive)

Password: (Case sensitive)

Select the keyboard icon at bottom of screen to show keyboard

Enter your username and password

Select the keyboard icon at bottom of screen to hide keyboard

Click “Synchronize”

Step 5. “One moment please while we synchronize your test and results with the test server…” will appear.

Status…

Finish Successfully. Click OK to Continue…

Study Mode Option

ü Select and hear reading passage

ü Answer questions

ü Audio in English or Spanish

Step 1. Select “Study” and Click “Continue”

It is not necessary to re-enter the user name – you may just select “Continue”. (This entry may be used to identify a guest user- select the keyboard icon at bottom of screen to show keyboard and enter a Student ID).

Click on the keyboard icon at bottom of screen to hide keyboard

Click Continue

Step 3. Select one of the files from the list by clicking on it and then click “Continue”

Step 4. Click the “Audio” tab at the bottom of the screen and then click “Audio On” to activate the voices on the PDA (Wait for 10 seconds for the audio is on message)

Click “Repeat” in the Audio tab to hear the current question in English. Click “Spanish” to hear translation of question if available.

Step 5. To view and READ text associated with the question, click the “Read” tab .

Step 6. Click “Read” to read the passage.

Click “Stop” to stop the reading.

Click “Pause” to pause the reading.

Click “RH” to read highlighted word or phrase

NOTE: If CCQ is reading a long passage to you and stops before completing, click the “Pause” button twice. You can eliminate this issue by changing the PDA settings to keep the PDA from automatically turning off after a certain time period.

Step 7. After reading is completed, click “Question” to go back to the original field and select an answer.

You may also click “Clue” to see any comments that may be available in that window.

Click “Next” to go to next question.

Step 8. Click “Finish”

You have selected FINISH to end this session.

Please select “Save Score” from the bottom tab. Then select “New Quiz or “Exit”

Your score will be saved on the PDA and will be sent to the REPORT folder the next time that the student synchronizes the PDA. “Exit” will close the CCQ traveling-Tutor program.

Take Test Mode

ü Verbal delivery of questions available

ü Spanish or English Audio

ü On-going verbal encouragement and support by computer

Step 1 Select “Take Test” and Click “Continue”

Step 2. All other steps will be the same as in the “Study” mode. The only difference will be that the CCQ program will not tell the student if they got a correct or incorrect answer. Student may even change their selection but once they select “Finish” and “Save Score” their answers will be locked in and sent to Report folder.

NOTE: Should you have any time that the PDA becomes unresponsive or slow, you should “reboot” the PDA by using a pen point to push in the ressessed button at the bottom left of the HP iPAQ 2790.
